    A: We unfortunately cannot offer construction services or sell shipping containers to distant markets at this time. We can however supply you with a vast range of DIY products that will help you build the foundation of your container mod projects.     Q: How long does it take to process and deliver orders? 

    A: We strive to process orders promptly. Once your order is placed and payment is confirmed, it typically takes 1-2 business days for our team to process and prepare your shipment.     Q: What trucks do we use to deliver shipping containers?

    A: We use deck trucks and trucks with tilt trailers to deliver your shipping container. They both maneuver differently, so you’ll want to be prepared and make sure you have room on-site for one or the other. You can speak with your sales rep to understand which one is coming to you.

    Q: How much room does a truck need to deliver the container?

    To deliver a shipping container, our trucks will need enough room to drive straight away from the location. For a 20’ shipping container delivery, we will need at least 65’ of clearance for the truck to drop the container on site. For a 40’ container delivery, we will need at minimum 110’ of room for the truck to drop the sea can in place.

    Q: I’m not sure I have enough room on-site.

    A: If you’re concerned that you don’t have enough room on-site, you can take pictures and email them to us at sales@thecontainerguy.ca. We’ll be able to tell you whether we can or cannot deliver to that location.

Q:  Which way do the doors get loaded?

A: Shipping containers can be loaded with the doors either to the front or the back of the truck. Please let us know which way you want the container loaded so the doors are facing the right way when we get there.

Q:  How do I prepare my site for delivery?

A: Clearing the area for the truck and creating a foundation for the container are the most important things you need to do to prepare your site. We recommend placing the container on 6” treated wooden blocks under only the four corners of the container. Elevating the container above ground will allow for proper airflow and not trap moisture beneath the container, which can cause condensation and floor rot.

Q:  Can you deliver to tight areas?

A: This depends on the driver and the customer. If the driver is not comfortable delivering to that area but you’re willing to accept responsibility for any damage that might occur, there is a waiver you can sign prior to guiding our driver in placing the container where you want it. If you don’t want to sign the waiver, the driver will place the container where they are comfortable and it is your responsibility to move it where you want.

    The Container Guy is a locally owned and operated business in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that sells, rents, delivers, stores and modifies shipping containers. We are proud to provide our customers with secure, wind and watertight and rodent-proof structures for all their storage needs. We have other locations throughout Western Canada in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

    Since 2011, we have become known as the go-to guys for hazardous material storage and industrial modifications.     Our Journey

    The idea to sell and rent containers literally came knocking on our doors in the early 2000s. At the time, we were running a trucking and handling company where we would store and move containers around Western Canada. After years of people stopping in our yard asking if we sold containers, we realized we were missing a huge market. 

    The first year we sold over 300 containers and coined the name “The Container Guy.” Since then, we have established ourselves as the go-to container guys in Saskatchewan and opened more locations throughout Western Canada.

    Then, in 2011, Channing McCorriston won a deal on Dragon’s Den for starting a shipping container modification company. He eventually sold his shares and returned to The Container Guy where he brought his knowledge of container modifications into the business.

    Channing has 10 years of experience modifying shipping containers into offices, mining camps, hazardous materials storage units, & more. Although Channing is an accountant by trade, he has a mind for technical design and a great understanding of metal fabrication, electrical, plumbing, & HVAC code requirements. His CMA degree and continued professional development courses allow him to lead the design and marketing team from concept to finished product.
